Louvre Abu Dhabi

AED 60

The much anticipated Louvre Abu Dhabi Universal Museum is now nearing completion, following an almost ten-year wait. It is poised to significantly elevate Abu Dhabi’s standing and establish the United Arab Emirates as one of the world’s most renowned cultural hubs.

The governments of Abu Dhabi and France collaborated to create the first-ever global museum on the Arabian Peninsula. The museum’s eponymous moniker speaks for itself. Contrary to what its name suggests, the goal is to create a logical path of discovery, openness, and unity rather than to copy the layout or contents of the Louvre Museum. Through its extensive exhibits, visitors can explore diverse civilizations and world history; compare and learn them in-depth; and, most importantly, reflect on their true values. This approach is unique and enlightening, creating the ideal platform for education and the exchange of ideas as well as cultures

Description

The highly anticipated Louvre Abu Dhabi Universal Museum is finally nearing completion after nearly a decade of delays. It is expected to significantly elevate Abu Dhabi’s and the UAE’s standing as one of the most popular cultural hubs in the world.

As the first worldwide museum of its sort on the Arabian Peninsula, it is a joint venture between the governments of France and Abu Dhabi. Its eponymous moniker speaks for itself. Contrary to its name, however, the goal is not only to copy the layout or contents of the Louvre Museum, but rather to create a logical path toward understanding, transparency, and unity. Through its extensive exhibits on world history, visitors can explore diverse civilizations and learn about them in depth, compare and learn about them in depth, and, most importantly, reflect on their true values. This approach is both unique and enlightening, creating the ideal platform for education and cultures to exchange.

The $650 million museum features permanent installations that cover more than 65,000 square feet and are primarily supported by loans from renowned museums like the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, and Centre Pompidou. The museum showcases a wide range of objects that depict both ancient and the latest in contemporary artistic expressions. You will journey through four unique periods, starting with archeology and the creation of Islam and ending with the classical age and modern era, as its exhibits are arranged chronologically. There is an area set aside for children’s activities in addition to about 20,000 square feet of space for temporary exhibitions.

Above all, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Universal Museum is a very remarkable sight on the water. It is a major part of the flourishing Saadiyat Cultural District, which will also house museums like the Guggenheim Museum and the Zayed National Museum. It consists of a number of gorgeous white buildings that resemble an Arabian city. Award-winning French architect Jean Nouvel took inspiration for his breathtaking design from the area’s antiquated building methods, like the interwoven palm fronds that were originally employed as roofing and the traditional Falaj water system.

This fascinating building’s most striking feature is clearly its elaborate, multi-layered geometric lace dome, which is accentuated by thousands of star-shaped cladding patterns. The end product is a structure with tasteful perforations that beautifully contrast sunlight and shade. It goes without saying that the one-of-a-kind museum is impressive in every aspect, including its distinctive idea, extensive collection, and beautiful outside!
